Singer Ani Lorak’s Sochi concert canceled over technical concerns; organizers seek a new date
A concert by Ani Lorak in Sochi was canceled for technical reasons, according to the press service of Krasnaya Polyana, the gambling district administration. The event was slated for the Red Arena stage on February 16, but unforeseen technical issues forced organizers to halt preparations.
Several days before the show, inspectors discovered insulation violations in the switchboard of a 0.4 kV cable line that runs power to the venue. Three of the four cables involved were found to have problems, and this fault affected the site’s ability to deliver the necessary electrical load for the full setup of audio and lighting equipment. The press service explained that the power supply could not yet support the range of devices required for a headline concert of this scale.
As a result, Lorak’s performance cannot proceed until renovation work and safety checks are completed. A new date will be announced later, and all tickets that were purchased for the February 16 show will remain valid for the rescheduled performance. Viewers who prefer not to attend the new date can request a refund.
On February 15, the Mash Telegram channel reported another development in the domestic entertainment scene. Social activists from the Veterans of Russia movement reportedly urged the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, and Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov to cancel a separate concert by Gennady Khazanov in Moscow. Khazanov stated that he had no knowledge of such demands and reiterated that his performance would go ahead as planned.
Earlier, television figure Ksenia Sobchak had publicly supported Lolita during the time of a cancellation involving her performances, according to the same coverage.
The situation in Sochi highlights how technical safety reviews can impact large live events, even when all other elements of production are in place. Organizers emphasize that the decision to postpone is rooted in ensuring the audience, crew, and performers are protected while essential repairs and checks are carried out. Fans are advised to monitor official channels for updates on new dates and ticket options.
