Ana Belén wakes with Romeo and Juliet, joined by the Chinese Great Acrobatic Circus; a musical about and with The Secrets; the belief-in-action spirit from Kamikaze Theatre; Maria Luisa, a work by Juan Mayorga; a dance montage by Antonio Najarro; and the comedic piece Martita from Graná. About 84 performances will travel through the Main Theater of Alicante from September to January.

As July opened with preview releases for the new season, Deputy Director Maria Dolores Padilla drew attention as the four-month programming plan began to take shape. The aim was clear: variety, breadth, and, above all, high quality. This commitment was underscored by Abel Guarinos, director of the IVC, and Ana Ponsoda, regional manager of the Alicante Center of Banco Sabadell.

The lineup spans theatre, humor, circus, zarzuela, music, musical theater, dance, and family performances, all scheduled to run through January on Alicante stages.

Theatre

New theatre proposals were announced, including two productions contributed by Guillermo Heras, director of the Contemporary Spanish Theater Show XXXI: Future Lovers, produced by Channel Theatres, and Willingness to Believe, a project by Spanish Theater and Kamikaze Theater.

TalyCual and Best Theater present The Game Facts and Mistakes on December 2, directed, adapted and translated by Bernabé Rico; the cast includes Ángeles Martín, Antonio Dechent, and Juan Grandinetti.

The program also includes Forward All Girls, the story of brave women, directed by Andrés Lima, featuring Maria Luisa on December 10 in a closing presentation by Juan Mayorga with Monastic Theater and Lazona. What’s Lolita in Poncia on December 16 and 17 is a Teatro Español and Pentación production.

January’s final theatre proposals include Costume on the 20th and 21st with Javier Gutiérrez and Luis Bermejo; Molière’s The Greedy (26) presented by Atalaya, and Federico García offering a poetic look at the life and works of the poet, with Pep Tosar on the 27th.

Circus and Music

The circus segment features the renowned troupe Hunan Acrobatic Arts Theater presenting the Chinese Great Acrobatic Circus on November 28 and 29, led by Ms. Shi Yicen.

Two additional musical comedies are listed: Spine Not Available on December 28 and 29, and the Golden Apple Quartet on December 30. Dance

A Cultural Column

The IVC’s growing role in Alicante’s programming and cultural presentation is evident in the Theater Director’s work. The collaboration extends to Teatre Arniches’ programming, the direct management of Teatre Arniches and its festivals, and support for events such as the University of Alicante programs, Circuit Culture Valencià and Circuit Sonora, as well as festivals like the Alicante International Film Festival and Muestra de Autores Contemporáneos.

It is an aesthetic and ethical achievement to see Teatro Principe de Alicante’s programming align with major contemporary Spanish titles and much of the regional cultural excellence. The program highlights a strong commitment to promoting culture and positions the director as a reference point for Alicante’s cultural space.
