Alicante Film Festival promotes healthy eating with fruit at screenings

The Alicante International Film Festival teams up with a commercial partner to promote healthy eating habits among festival-goers. As part of the 20th edition celebrations, the collaboration focused on distributing fruit bowls to audiences attending screenings. The initiative took place during the festival’s competition schedule in Alicante, running from June 3 to June 10, and extended across the participating venues including Kinepolis Cinemas.

This program began as a pilot and has now expanded to cover all screenings in the festival venues. It applies to both short films and feature presentations and is integrated into the official festival program as well as guest film appearances. The aim is to make healthy choices easy and visible for attendees while they enjoy cinema experiences.

Vincent Seva, the festival director, commented on the alliance, highlighting that Mercalicante would again accompany screenings with a nutritious snack. The message behind the partnership is clear: promoting healthy habits is compatible with celebrating art and cinema, and the cooperation helps to model positive routines for audiences.

Dolores Mejía, managing director of Mercalicante, emphasized the value of bringing nutrition into the cultural space. The agreement encourages the consumption of healthy products, such as fresh fruit, while people in Alicante indulge in the seventh art. The collaboration aligns public health goals with cultural engagement, creating a simple and meaningful way for residents and visitors to nourish themselves during film events.
