The Alicante Film Festival is expanding its reach once again, bringing a selection of its program to nearby towns in the region. In a prelude to the main competition week, several short films from the official lineup will be shown in the traditional host town of San Vicente del Raspeig, inviting local audiences to a taste of the festival before the big week arrives.
This outreach will occur on May 17 at 20:00, at the Associations Center located on Left Street. Admission is free, with seating limited to the venue’s capacity. The evening is a 65-minute showcase organized in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, reflecting a shared commitment to celebrating cinema and the arts across the area.
The shorts selected for this viewing session come from the fiction section and include a diverse set of voices. The program features Bullying by Antonia San Juan, Family by Oscar Network, True Orange by Alicante Santiago Catto, A Shitty Day by a Sanvicenteño filmmaker, Behind the Scenes debuting actress Vanessa Romero, and Space Frankie by David Valero. The lineup offers a compact glimpse into contemporary storytelling, character work, and creative technique.
This outreach aligns with the festival’s strategy to kick off the competition week with community engagement and local support. The organizers express gratitude to Vicente Seva, the festival director, and to the City Council for continually enabling these cultural exchanges. The collaboration helps amplify regional voices and fosters a welcoming environment for audiences to experience cinema in a relaxed, communal setting.
For the third consecutive year the town opens the festival’s period with a curated collection of shorts, spanning the works Space Frankie and the discussion led by David Valero and Rachel Rodriguez Llorca, a member of the Cultural Council. The organizers commend the ongoing trust and partnership from the municipality and salute the dedicated team behind the festival for delivering high-quality programming year after year. The invitation stands for all residents and visitors to join the upcoming Tuesday screening and enjoy a concise, engaging program of short films that showcases emerging talent and established voices alike.
