Alicante Fashion Day brought together renowned figures from the fashion world this Tuesday to explore The Secret of Attraction, an exhibition organized by the Provincial Council of Alicante in commemoration of its 35th anniversary. The event featured the participation of the Alicante-based fashion house Hannibal Laguna, and a conference led by Rafael Muñoz. A round-table discussion with a journalist who covers fashion for RTVE.es, and who previously served on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid Fashion Committee, helped shape the day’s program at MARQ. The conversations offered attendees a panoramic view of contemporary fashion as it intersects with art, culture, and regional industry.

The day opened with apologies and greetings by the President of the Provincial Assembly, Tony Pérez, who previously welcomed guests at the Alicante Provincial Palace and guided visitors through the exhibition. The turnout surpassed four thousand visitors, reflecting strong local interest. The program was curated with input from culture deputy Juan de Dios Navarro, designer Aníbal Angulo, journalist and creative director of Hannibal Laguna, and curator Cristina Martínez, whose collective expertise framed the event as a comprehensive exchange on fashion, design, and Spanish fashion history.

Aníbal Angulo, at the center, shared the spotlight with Rafael Muñoz and Clara Courel in a moment captured during the afternoon sessions. The event was marked by insightful discussions and intimate conversations about the industry, style, and the evolving role of fashion in contemporary society. The atmosphere emphasized collaboration between creators, critics, and cultural institutions, underscoring Alicante’s growing role as a hub for fashion discourse in the region.

Following the conference round-table, Angulo and Muñoz were joined by Pepa Bueno, managing director of ACME, the Spanish Association of Fashion Creators, who previously held the position of editor-in-chief at Elle, Mujer, and Yo Dona. Clara Courel, a renowned journalist and communications specialist with a focus on lifestyle topics, participated as a commentator and host in some segments. Luis Sala Miquel, author of a landmark volume on Spain’s fashion over the last century, contributed perspectives on the evolution of dress and identity. The dialogue highlighted how fashion narratives are shaped by media, authorship, and cultural memory, offering attendees a richer understanding of the industry’s past and future directions [Citation: Alicante Provincial Council archives].
