Alicante’s Juan Gil-Albert Cultural Institute has reignited its music cycles in collaboration with the Alicante Cultural Institute and the Óscar Esplá Higher Conservatory of Alicante. The opening session is scheduled for Monday evening at 19.00 and will include a musicology conference, followed by a concert on Tuesday at 18.00 as part of the Young Music program.

In this cycle, conservatory students and recent graduates present research findings and conclusions as an extension of their academic training, while also fueling cultural outreach. The program explores the relationship between music and painting, including a discussion centered on the Antoni Miró collection and its influence on Alcoyan painting. A talk focuses on the connections between music and painting, drawing on Feliu Ventura’s disc which features nine songs by Valencian and Catalan singers and composers and is inspired by paintings by the Alcoyan artist Antoni Miró.

Several musicians, bands and composers participate in the event, including Mara Aranda, Cesk Freixas, Miquel Gil, Julia, Mireia Vives and Borja Penalba. The organizers plan to add four additional artists who will be analyzed during the presentation. The session will examine four songs from the Costa Blanca 1993 project by the group Flood, along with compositions by Feliu Ventura. The discussions will also cover pieces by Pau Alabajos and Estel d’horabaixa performed by Lu Rois, a pianist and singer-songwriter.

During the Young Music cycle, Bardín House highlights the role of youth in classical music and provides a platform for emerging interpreters. Guided by professors from various departments, the Higher Conservatory selects the students who will participate in each session, curates their repertoire, and links these choices to practical training.

The first concert of the season takes place at Casa Bardín in the evening, featuring woodwind students from the CSMA and works by Dutilleux, Desenclos, F. Martin, Françaix, Waignein, Debussy and Spohr. Admission is free and limited by venue capacity.

The Cultural Deputy noted that the doors of the Juan Gil-Albert Institute have reopened to showcase the outstanding work taking place in conservatories, aimed at developing the talents of young people.
