Celebrity Targeted by Scammers: The Alexander Voevodin Case

A Russian actor, Alexander Voevodin, faced a deliberate scam that exploited his trust and digital security. Reported by iz.ru, the incident showcases how fraudsters operate and the steps actors and public figures must take to protect themselves.

The attackers reached Voevodin by phone, posing as an employee of a mobile operator. They claimed there was an urgent need to replace his SIM card and asked for sensitive information about his bank accounts. To make the deception more convincing, the scammers installed a telecom operator’s app on his device, effectively gaining control of essential services and data.

Shortly after, Voevodin received a second call from someone claiming to be a law enforcement officer. The caller said that the actor had fallen prey to scammers and needed to secure all accounts immediately. The message was crafted to trigger fear and prompt rapid action, a classic tactic used to bypass skepticism.

Trust in the bank was eroded as the fraud progressed. Upon contacting his bank, Voevodin learned that 250 thousand rubles had already been withdrawn. In addition, there were numerous unauthorized transactions, the precise total of which remained unclear, caused by the attacker’s access to critical authentication channels and banking interfaces.

After recognizing the loss, Voevodin reached out to the police, and law enforcement opened a formal investigation into the incident. The case underscores the importance of verifying identities through independent channels and safeguarding personal access credentials against remote manipulation.

Alexander Voevodin’s filmography spans more than 130 works. He has appeared in notable projects such as Officers, Find and Neutralize, Mad Day or The Marriage of Figaro, Hot Snow, Vanyushin’s Children, and Daddy’s Daughters. He is also recognized for portraying Colonel Khrulev in the television series The Return of the Headman, a role that contributed to his prominence in Russian cinema and television.

In a separate public matter, Lena Lenina faced a fine in France related to charitable acts toward a homeless woman, highlighting the broad spectrum of public and legal consequences that can accompany high-profile figures.
