A veteran journalist from the daily INFORMACIÓN has reached the limit of participation in the special edition format of the Saber y Ganar contest, hosted by the iconic Jordi Hurtado. The team is led by Antonio Teruel and includes two fellow reporters, Jose Moreno and Manel Carrere, all residents of Barcelona. Interestingly, the trio share a background at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and were drawn together by a common thread: they had all appeared on the show during its regular daily edition in the past.

A notable detail is Teruel’s prior involvement in 2011, when he competed across eight episodes. He regards that stretch as a charming experience and, thirteen years later, as a reason to bid farewell to Saber y Ganar Fin de semana. He explains that the idea to reform the team came from a WhatsApp group of past contestants who stayed in touch. The spark happened when he decided to assemble a team to relive the thrill of competition, and the result was a unit that would ultimately stay on television for twenty-five weeks, the maximum allowed by the show’s producers.

Across six competing teams, the journalists have accumulated a total of 40,400 euros to be shared among the three, after taxes. The take is reduced by a slice for the tax authority, but the journalist from Alicante proudly notes that the winnings help fund public services that benefit everyone in society.

The journey began in September 2022, but work obligations required a hiatus. The group later resumed and continued a long sequence of appearances that stretched to the limit of what the format allows. In a final nod to their significant commitment, the organization arranged two special episodes where the team did not compete, honoring their durable participation. They can claim to be the only contestants to have appeared across three different years: 2022, 2023 and 2024.

For Teruel, taking part in what is described as the most veteran and prestigious television contest in Spain is a fantastic experience. He recognizes the show as a demanding arena that requires intense mental effort and a broad, varied knowledge base. He emphasizes the warm treatment shown to participants and praises the value of the experience gained, even if the financial rewards are not the primary driver.
