It somehow reaffirmed my love for music. I already knew this was my passion, but the fact that I came here to try it out really helped me realize and bet on everything around me, the music that surrounds me, and what I can contribute to these worlds. I am more than ever. In the year I’ve been here, you go to a concert almost every day, meet someone, discover a new artist… There are many elements that the city has that catches you and is a constant source of inspiration. .
Is this change due to the fact that if you don’t live in Madrid you can’t aspire to almost anything in music?
Madrid has a kind of issue of virtue where many things end here and in some sectors everything is very central, but I think the fact that the music is so diverse is not a determining factor in your success in Madrid or negativity. This is very relative. You can perfectly make a living from music without being in Madrid, but it’s also true that most of the music industry resides in the capital city and that in the end, somehow your project doesn’t matter how far you can go while you’re away. , sooner or later becomes mandatory in Madrid.
You just released a new single with a new style and sound. Does it involve seeking out all kinds of audiences before you have a very specific style?
I changed the voice because I felt that way, not because I could reach more people that way. What happened before, I don’t think there is a distinct style, the new songs in the end continue to have the essence of the previous ones, but I think I’ve been recording on my own for a while since I moved. , working hours to get more interested in the world of sound and trying new things. Finally the music I love came out and I think it’s very true to the moment, because I play everything and the sounds are completely mine.
You surrounded yourself with excellent music professionals for the recording of la mirada, could it be the first step towards doing something great in the future?
I always work looking to the future and I believe that in every step taken, it is necessary to show something new and dare to try new horizons. Thanks to this, I think that I have succeeded in getting very common tastes, very specific goals and people involved in this business with me at this point. Working with Óscar (Varry Brava), Juanjo (Cycle) and Tony on the recording of the new was successful and I see each of them as friends beyond music. I really feel like everything is on the right track and I hope this helps me achieve something great as you say. Make it clear that you will try.
Do you plan to continue releasing individual songs as now, or do you have ready material for recording a full album?
I recorded a few songs in the studio, as in La Mirada, all with Óscar, Juanjo and Tony. Obviously the full album is one of my pending wishes for the future, but for now the idea is to go for singles and see how it all turns out.
When you sit in front of a blank page while composing a song, where does your mind go, both musically and literary, do you set any limits?
I try to make the music first by picking up a chord wheel that interests me, then I extract the melody. Last letter. The easiest for me. Normally, I do all this with the guitar, except for some situations where I use the piano or a rhythm that catches my attention. Drums, synth, guitar, etc. I’m experimenting more when I start recording the first demo with all the elements. and the style that I see most appropriate is given. Beyond setting limits, I try to think that something can be gained from anything.
Now you have a concert in your city Orihuela, before your people, who already have live footage, are you preparing for such an occasion in a special way?
Finally, La Gramola is where I grew up and that first thing already makes it special. Then seeing people from there again with the new is something that motivates me. It’s a concert I’m really looking forward to because it means everything: comeback, it’s officially just getting started… I’ve waited a long time to finally do that concert, I’ve dreamed of it many times. My head and I will do everything I can. I have it in my hand to make it valuable.
