Russian Army Theatre lays off 63 employees under new director 13:27

Following a management change, 63 employees were fired from the Russian Army Theater. Life reports with this reference: Shot.

According to the publication, those who lost their jobs include acting and speech trainers, economists, wardrobe assistants, set designers and costume designers. 29 employees declared their own free will, 32 employees had their employment contracts terminated, one person left by mutual consent, and one was drafted into the army. The layoffs occurred after Milena Avimskaya took over as director.

Among those dismissed were people’s artists Alexander Dick and Nikolai Lazarev.

Former actress of the Russian Army Theater Ksenia Taran believes that Dick and Lazarev were forced to write a statement of their own free will. According to the artist, people who have worked for more than 30 years cannot be subject to a fixed-term employment contract.

In July, Shot reported that 15 artists were dismissed from the Russian Army Theatre in a “mass and unexpected” manner. The actors believe that they were treated illegally. They decided to go to court to demand reinstatement.
