Alexei Gorbashov, the leader and guitarist of the Mirage group, told socialbites.ca that the group, along with their friend, artist Nikita Dzhigurda, was almost arrested in Paris.
The incident occurred during the shooting of a joint video for the song “Won’t Help You Tonight” in Paris. Parisians, embarrassed by the artists’ behavior, called the police.
“It was a groundbreaking trip to France! Our twelve-meter limousine, which we had rented for filming, stopped in one of the narrow streets of Paris. We drank champagne, danced and sang. We scared half to death the metro passengers and the unlucky (or lucky) passers-by in the Moulin Rouge area that evening. It’s a miracle that the police, who were called, didn’t take us to the police station,” Gorbashov recalls.
The Mirage group and Nikita Dzhigurda have been friends and collaborators for many years. In 1994, Dzhigurda worked on an album for the 100th anniversary of Sergei Yesenin, in which all the female parts were voiced by Mirage soloist Ekaterina Boldysheva.
“We wrote this album in the studio of the Lenkom Theater, and then I lived in Sadovoy, 500 meters from the theater. Sometimes, right after the recording, we would go home and stay there until the morning. Nikita sang for the whole house, and the next day the neighbors wanted to spare them. But is there really a force that can stop Dzhigurda? – the musician shares.
