The XV Elena Obraztsova International Young Opera Singers Competition, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of her birth, opened in St. Petersburg. This is reported by TASS – said the general director of the show, referring to Irina Chernova, director of the Elena Obraztsova Cultural Center.
As a result of expert selection, it was noted that 90 singers participated from Russia, Abkhazia, Austria, Armenia, Belarus, England, Vietnam, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, China, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, North Macedonia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and France. In total, more than 400 applications were considered.
In the first round, the participants will perform arias from operas, cantatas and oratorios by 17th-19th century composers. 15 people will advance to the final. The award ceremony and gala concert of the winners will be held on July 27.
