“The rector of the university offered me a workshop and we decided that it was possible,” Sokurov shared.
In Russia, the distribution certificate for Sokurov’s film “Fairy Tale” was rejected by the Russian Ministry of Culture, which led to the film being banned from screening in the country.
Following this, the director announced his intention to stop making new films or showing old works.
Many of the graduates of Sokurov’s workshops became successful directors whose films entered and won the world’s largest film festivals. In his workshop, students start making films from the first days of their education, and in addition to practical lessons, they are also given the opportunity to study humanities under the guidance of leading Armenian and international teachers.
The publication states that each student will have the opportunity to communicate individually with the master within the scope of the workshop.
