Composer Raymond Pauls and lyricist Ilya Reznik popularized Laima Vaikule to spite Pugacheva. This opinion was expressed in an interview by producer Sergei Lavrov. HABER.ru.
“Once Pauls and Reznik quarreled with Pugacheva and, to spite her, decided to make a singer like Laima Vaikule. They practically ushered him out of the restaurant, wrote the material, and he walked in. This is not surprising, they were the best composers and songwriters in the Soviet Union,” Lavrov recalls.
He recalled that Pauls and Reznik started working with the artist in 1986. They wrote many hits for Vaikule: for example, “Night Fever”, “It’s Not Evening Yet”, “Vernissage”.
Ilya Reznik in January condemned Singer Laima Vaikule, who did not celebrate the 88th birthday of composer Raimonds Pauls. He stated that such “antics” should remain on the conscience of the Latvian singer she. According to Reznik, Vaikule turned out to be “Thomas who does not remember kinship.”
