Nikita Kologrivoy’s lawyer, Andrei Zhukov, said in an interview with socialbites.ca that he was satisfied with the court’s decision not to increase the detention period from 7 days to 15 days. He added that such crimes are usually punishable by detention for 3 to 5 days, but in the Kologriv case, public outcry did not allow this.
“We believe that a certain balance, so to speak, is maintained between Nikita’s interests and the public interest. Because the punishment itself (seven days) is a little longer than what is normally given. I don’t think the court was biased, it’s just that the public reaction made it possible for a little more people to be appointed, which I understand was what the public wanted. While preparing for the case, I reviewed nearly 100 court decisions regarding cases in this category. They give 3-5 days. We cannot say that this is unfair, given the circumstances of the case. That’s why we decided not to object,” Zhukov said.
The lawyer also said that Kologrivy had not complained to him about his detention in the pre-trial detention centre.
“I visit him almost every day, he has not expressed any complaints. In general, it was not even mentioned,” Zhukov said.
On March 22, the Novosibirsk Regional Court approved the decision to detain actor Nikita Kologrivoy for seven days for rowdy behavior in a hookah bar. Before this, the regional prosecutor’s office objected to the court’s decision, considering that the sentence given to the actor was too light, and requested that the detention period be increased to 15 days.
During the evaluation of the prosecutor’s request for aggravated punishment, the artist filed a complaint stating that the conditions in the detention center were “not very pleasant”.
It was learned that on the night of March 19, in one of the workplaces in Novosibirsk, the actor attacked the employees and harassed the stewardesses, as seen from the security camera recordings. According to the girl, he bit her leg and began to rub his hands, demanding sex.
Formerly Burger King contributed Nikita Kologrivoy was blacklisted.
