The house-museum of Russian artist Konstantin Korovin was opened in Gurzuf after the restoration initiated by the spouses Sergei and Victoria Zhigunov. This was reported by RIA News.
Villa “Salambo”, built by Korovin, was allocated to the actor and producer Zhigunov as a filming base along with other facilities.
“We removed 16 truckloads of garbage from this area. Everything was broken and destroyed,” says museum director Victoria Zhigunova, reminding that mold and mildew must be cleaned from the building.
The museum has four rooms, each containing music and stories by the artist Konstantin Korovin, voiced by Sergei Zhigunov. Victoria Zhigunova noted that the artist began writing books after the onset of blindness.
In 1912, Korovin built a dacha with a workshop in Gurzuf, and an apartment building was built nearby to rent apartments to guests. The artist named the villa “Salambo” in honor of Gustav Flaubert’s novel and the ballet of the same name at the Bolshoi Theatre. The building remained on the balance sheet of the Union of Artists of Ukraine for many years.
In 2023, Zhigunov began shooting the film “Three Friends, a Treasure and the Sailor Cat” in Crimea; the shooting took place specifically at Korovin’s villa.
