Members of the Onyx group agreed to hold a new concert in Donetsk. They talk about this and the disruption of the demonstration in Kiev in 2015 said in the film interview “Obviously with Tatarka” by popular blogger Liliya Abramova (Tatarki FM).
In 2017, Onyx, together with a band from Simferopol, recorded a song and shot a video about life in Crimea, after which they were subject to sanctions in Ukraine. According to Fredro Starr, they had a great time in Crimea, but they don’t understand politics.
“We hope that these sanctions will be lifted in the future. But we love Russia because they respect us here, and we respect them too,” he said.
The musicians recalled that in 2015, two years before the sanctions, their concert in the Ukrainian capital was interrupted as a result of a provocation by the Right Sector (an organization banned in Russia).
“We had an incident in Kiev, we were in the room, they called the manager, they told us, don’t go to the event, they are trying to prevent it. Then they called again, come and sign. But we went there because our fans are there and they’re waiting for us…” Starr explained.
He also assured that the musicians of the group are ready to return to Donetsk with a concert. Before that, they performed in 2010 – before the annexation of the DPR, LPR and the Kherson region to Russia.
“As I said, we will go where love is. If they like us there, we’ll be there too. “Onyx for all people, we’re going to go no matter what, whether it’s dangerous or not,” Starr said.
