core exhibition
Three kilometers of herbal collage It is the basic proposal of the project. An exhibition by the artist Marisa Maestre, who has already toured different exhibition venues, private and public, in Spain, which has achieved remarkable success in terms of reception and criticism. It is a project arising from the observation, collection and identification studies carried out by the artist in his natural environment. Native plants within a three kilometer radius of your home are x-rayed. Thus, nearly 30 works are exhibited at Seneca Space, where nature is recreated as an important source of art.
During his nature walks in the stopovers of the Culebro river between Fuenlabrada and Leganés, the artist brings together different types of leaves, nuts and seeds that connect with art due to their natural architecture, in a work unique to botanists. and especially with collage. After each collection, the artist identifies the different species to create a herbarium, together with the corresponding information label: the identity of the collector, the location and date of the collection, and the habitat where the different botanical species are found. Then, using the manual collage technique and collecting portraits from his collection, the artist creates works of art inspired by each of the herbarium plates, thus resulting in a dual work of art.
Maestre is a visual artist, illustrator and graphic designer. His work focuses on creating visual experiences and emotions through collage, illustration and design. He has opened more than fifty exhibitions both nationally and internationally and collaborates regularly as an artist on artistic projects for the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in the field of education.
He is also the co-founder of PK Visual Artists Collective and has received numerous awards for illustration, graphic design and visual arts throughout his career. His latest achievements include the first prize at the APIM in the advertising illustration category and the first prize at the MUA II Visual Arts Biennale for his collective exhibition project.
