University of Alicante launches four cultural workshops for the second quarter of the 2023-24 academic year

Alicante University Cultural Service opens Registration deadline for four new cultural workshops to be held in the second semester of the academic year: audio description, theatrical improvisation, discovering our clown and storytelling for radio. The workshops are in face-to-face format, except for audio narration held online.

The first workshop will take place Audio commentary offering an introduction to the theory and practice of this service, which will launch next February 13 and is designed to enable blind and partially sighted people to access audiovisual products., where visual content is translated into words. The training, which will consist of 30 hours and 12 sessions, will be given by teachers Blanca Arias, Irene Hermosa and Gonzalo Iturregui.

A workshop will be held on March 1 voicing stories for radio. This is a course for people interested in exploring their own voice through an interpretive approach., to acquire the necessary tools to record a story for radio. It will consist of 15 hours divided into 5 sessions, delivered by Begoña Tenés.

Miryam Villalobos leads the workshop Theatrical improvisation will consist of 30 hours distributed over 8 sessions between 16-24 March. Knowing how to improvise is an essential tool for fully enjoying life and the performing arts. Improvisation means playing with our creativity, listening and adapting, and being able to react to the moment without the need for a script or preliminary preparation. Improvisation seeks to develop our playful capacity to be spontaneous and real by overcoming the fear of making mistakes.

Workshop offer ends Discover the clown within us, taught by Susana Giner from 26 to 28 May (15 hours in 4 sessions). Giner explains that the main work of the course will be: “Allowing the clown within you to emerge, communicating with others using our own way of being, learning to laugh at ourselves, with ourselves and with others.”, look at each other to get to know each other a little more and see each other from a different perspective. In this way, clown It becomes an exciting adventure, fun and liberating, suitable for everyone, theater professional or not.”

Registration fees

Registration price varies if the person accessing them is part of the University Alicante or not. Additionally, activities corresponding to a greater number of ECTS credits have a higher price. Thus, the fee for the first workshop on audio description will be 70 euros for people belonging to the UA or former students, while people from outside the University will have to pay 90 euros to formalize the registration process. This activity gives 3 ECTS credits. The theatrical improvisation workshop taught by Miryam Villalobos is the same price.

One step down Radio storytelling workshop will be 50 euros for university students and Graduates, 65 euros for people from outside the UA. Additionally, taking the entire course corresponds to 1.5 ECTS credits. Finally, the workshop on discovering the clown within us has no credit and costs between 35 and 45 euros, depending on whether the applicant is from the University of Alicante or not.
