Before that, a fragment of the performance of the troupe performing Russian songs at the Christmas market in Riga appeared on social networks.
The deputy mayor explained that the video showed the women’s community at the municipal cultural center of the Audri neighborhood in the Rezekne district.
“This is a minority community supported by local governments and the state. “All the songs suit the fair,” he said.
According to him, fair representatives personally reviewed the texts before the show.
“There was no text praising Russia or Putin anywhere. Language of communication during the concert: Latvian,” he wrote.
Ratnieks added that the Riga City Council was not involved in the organization of the concert.
