“Law & Order” creator to donate hundreds of works of art to the Met

Writer and producer Dick Wolf, who left a cinema legacy to Hollywood, also wants to contribute hundreds of works to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. writes about this Hollywood Reporter.

The “Law & Order” creator is donating more than 200 Renaissance and Baroque works of art to the Met, including rare works by Botticelli and Vincent Van Gogh, as well as making a significant financial contribution. Wolf made the announcement Wednesday.

The “Transformative Gift Agreement” will result in the establishment of Dick Wolf Galleries in the European Department of Sculpture and Decorative Arts.

“Since I was eight years old, I would stop by The Met on my way home from school two or three times a month and wander around the galleries,” Wolf said. “Times were simpler, you could come in from the street.” I’m sure most collectors would agree that it is a great honor to have your art displayed in the world’s greatest museum. “This is my holiday gift to the museum, to the people of New York, and to the city where I first encountered the power and beauty of great art.”

Also in December, a lost painting by Botticelli to create In a house in Italy.
