St. Petersburg artist-activist Alexandra (Sasha) Skochilenko objected to the sentence given for spreading “fake news” about the Russian Armed Forces. This was reported by TASS referring to the joint press service of the city courts.

“The court appealed the decision on November 30,” a representative from the press corps said.

Skochilenko’s sentence was announced in the Vasileostrovsky District Court on November 16. He was sentenced to seven years in a general regime colony for the crime of spreading fake news about the Russian Armed Forces. In March 2022, Skochilenko moved to St. He replaced five price tags in one of the stores in St. Petersburg with stylized pages containing information about the progress of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, which did not correspond to the position of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The artist remained in custody for one and a half years. The court found him guilty in accordance with Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (knowingly disseminating false information to the public about the use of the RF Armed Forces).
