University of Alicante and the Federation of Spanish Cartoonists (FECO-Spain) jointly organize the Social Humor exhibition. The exhibition, which opened to visitors on November 2 this year, can be visited in Aifos Hall until November 30. The exhibition consists of fifty works by 44 cartoonists from Spain, Europe and America, highlighting current problems in public health in a humorous way. Juli Sanchís, President of FECO-Spain, says: “Public health is a phone call that no one answers… If public health is not restructured in some other way by providing the necessary technical and human resources, we will end up with healthcare. healthcare for the rich and healthcare for the poor.”
The different editions of the Social Humor cycle are a national reference for graphic humor due to the intelligence, insight, common sense and dedication of the participating cartoonists, who analyze current events with a critical vision and sensitize the audience to the most diverse social aspects. All these years, The cycle brought to the public the work of artists who focused their attention on issues such as youth unemployment, mistreatment of women, corruption, intolerance, the importance of reading, discrimination, crisis of values, climate change and other issues. The causes of multiple symptoms affecting social development are questioned with elements of humor and irony.

Armengol Tolsà Badia, also known as “Ermengol”, was born in the Canals city of Córdoba province, Argentina, and has lived in Lleida since 1985. She started publishing in the legendary Hortensia magazine at the age of 18, but in her youth she moved to Catalonia, the country of her parents, grandparents and now her children. A multidisciplinary artist, he has developed his work in different artistic fields such as graphic humor, caricature, illustration, drawing, sculpture and visual poetry.
He worked for various publications: El Jueves, Playboy, Segre (1985-2010) and Diari d’Andorra (1995-2010). He was director of the satirical magazine La Quera and a supporter of the Humoràlia association, which organized the graphic humor competition on human rights that bears his name.. He won the Mingote Award given by ABC newspaper in 1993. He currently publishes his jokes in the newspapers La Mañana, Nube, Territoris, Borges Blanques, Almacelles, Vadefruita and occasionally on TV3.
