Russian pianist Elisey Mysin won the International Frederic Chopin Competition held in Nashville, USA, when he was 12 years old. This is stated on the event’s Facebook account (its owner, Meta, is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia).
Mysin received the event’s main award as well as the audience award. She competed in the age category with musicians between the ages of 16-22. Despite the age restriction, the participant was allowed to perform with older contestants. In the competition held on October 14 and 15, 26 participants reached the finals, among which Mysin was the only person representing Russia.
The young artist was born in Stavropol in 2010, he learned to play the piano at the age of four. Mysin is currently studying at the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory. The pianist, who is a New Names Foundation scholar, won the first prize at the Vladimir Krainev Moscow Piano Competition in 2020 and 2021.
