Heming, 45, revealed that the 68-year-old actor has frontotemporal dementia, which causes gradual loss of cognitive abilities, in February 2023. She stated that the player’s condition is serious.
“I learned how difficult it is to have dementia. It’s hard for the family, too. Bruce, me and the girls are the same. “Those who say dementia runs in the family are right,” he said, referring to his daughters with Willis, Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, 8.
Kotb asked if the actor understood what was happening, or at least some of it, and Heming responded by suggesting that he might have been out of touch with reality.
“It’s hard to say. One of the things the frontal lobe of the brain is responsible for is self-awareness. We don’t know. Some people first lose awareness that they’ve changed, while others retain their self-awareness for longer,” he said.
