Figure skater Roman Kostomarov will star in the documentary series “Cyborg”. This was reported to socialbites.ca by representatives of the PREMIER online cinema.

The painting “Cyborg” will tell about the life of people with prosthetics. The author of the idea for the project was Lyudmila Arlanova. Specialists in the field of prosthetics, such as the Emergency Medicine Research Institute surgeon named after him, also took part in the shoot. NV Sklifosovsky Maxim Lachaev, Ilya Chekh, founder of the company “Motorika” and rehabilitation specialist Elena Mezentseva.

Producer Dmitry Litvinov sets one of the goals of the project to help people with disabilities believe in themselves and enjoy life in all its colors again.

The film will consist of three parts, each of which describes new technologies in prosthetics and the lives of people with robotic limbs. The protagonists will tell how they went through the process of physically and psychologically adjusting to their new body, as well as mentor those who have recently encountered a similar body.

“We want to show life as an example to our heroes and highlight the high technologies that exist in our country,” said producer Makar Kozhukhov.

In January 2023, Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized after New Year’s performances at an open-air show. It was evaluated that the athlete, who was taken to the intensive care unit due to pneumonia, was subjected to artificial lung ventilation and his condition was extremely serious. He was then transferred to a hospital in Kommunarka, where he was resuscitated and connected to an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine. In the course of treatment, both Kostomarov’s feet and hands were amputated. On July 6, the skater was discharged from the hospital.
