One piece, yes. Time allowed me to know myself more. For me, music has always been the most original way of expressing oneself: through it I show nuances that I cannot speak. I feel more vitalistic today because so am I. To connect with my childhood I had to seek myself, understand myself, accept myself and forgive myself: that girl who dreamed of writing songs is very present.
How much does it cost to start a project as an independent artist?
Too much. The happiness that sharing my compositions with others created for me was very important, otherwise I would not have been able to overcome the obstacles. Gratitude helped me address them. Inside my dragon I’m talking about that inner strength that we sometimes forget we have and that also holds us back during storms. I feel people’s love more than ever before. And the only way I can respond to that is by making melodies that accompany them in moments of doubt.
Which letter best represents your present moment?

Is this how you imagine yourself at 20?

I gave myself the freedom to do what I felt. The songs never end, you can keep spinning. Now when I play them, I approach them from a different angle. The person and essence remain, but the moment does not. And that had to reflect that.

I have discovered that their essence is valuable and that I can review them with someone else. tempo. Today the message sounds different, something else is coming. Above all, I love to explore live. This is where I discover sentences that take on new meanings depending on the form.

Not at all. We live very fast: We sold millions of copies overnight and traveled the world. They’re all 20 years old and your friends are still studying. We decided to stop because the creative cycle had reached a limit. I needed it, I had to take care of what I loved. I risked not doing my best if I continued with pure inertia. True, there is a risk of leaving and no one will remember you when you return… In my case, I appreciate the public reaction. This dead end helped me reconnect. The industry continues to place too much emphasis on numbers at the expense of people. I knew I would come back, but first I had to find my way. And I did it just when I started composing again. It’s a great scene because I was able to experience things that were out of my hands at the beginning. Music is such a sacred form of expression that I would not want to do it without seeing the respect and love it deserves.
What did you do in this absence?
I started issues that didn’t persist. I even recorded and produced some for a hypothetical album. Although I continue to develop my creative side in the shadows, I felt the need to share this.
Why haven’t these projects seen the light of day?
Although for different reasons, most of the time it was due to the fact that everything is not well connected. If I’m not 100% sure about something, I’d rather not go any further. I always did my best. And you have to accept that everything comes when it belongs.
When you returned, did someone disappoint you?
If you wait too long, you may be disappointed. The truth is, there were quite a few people around me at the crest of the wave. But when things calmed down, most of it disappeared. I don’t want to complain as this happens in every profession. And because it also saves you time. And that, deep down, is lucky. Sometimes it’s worse to be on the lookout for something that won’t get you anywhere. In this sense, you have to be brave to accept it: when you accept, an inner strength emerges and shows you the right path.
There is a succinct cut on this LP: i almost gave up. “I almost conformed to what others expected of me,” he says.
I wrote it at a time when I sent almost everything to buy asparagus. It’s a dialogue I openly established with what I’ve been through. Saved for anyone who has a similar situation. It’s not easy to give up because you need to drink water. There is something inside of us that makes us feel constantly on the go. We have to allow ourselves any emotion.
Do you remember the first time you heard one of your songs on the radio?
Yes, we were in the car. We stop to listen to him and we hit the road. It was incredible. Oddly enough, during the last promotion We are waiting and I felt the same. She looked like a little girl: goosebumps, glassy eyes.
Ella Baila Sola’s debut album sold one million copies within a few weeks. How has your life changed?
Humans have the ability to adapt to changes with some ease. And especially good. I lived with joy. As a big deal, I tried to do my best. And my loved ones could not be missing for this. I enjoyed what came. It was a beautiful stage. Even though I missed all the family events, I never ceased to be interested in connection. When something of these dimensions happens, awareness comes with time. Nobody is preparing you to sell that many records, but also to handle the emotions it creates.
Have they lost their innocence, illusion or youth because of fame?
I don’t know, I don’t think so. It is just a dream that success gives you happiness. It has helped me to value everything more. Wherever we are, we are important. It makes sense to continue from here.

The creative cycle is human and in any relationship, professional or personal, you rethink everything. As we couldn’t see the way to channel the ad, we decided to stop. We did the best we could with the tools we had. Maybe at another time this would have happened to us and we would have made another decision. The images you mention were taken in a beautiful apartment in Madrid. They asked us to pose together and separately. When you take a picture of a group, there is always someone who comes out worse than the other. And they wanted us both to come out as good as we could. It was a method that worked like any other.
Has anyone tried to stop the separation?
I probably don’t remember now. It’s also true that they never told me I had to dress or sing one way or another. Those around us understood our decision: they couldn’t do anything else without continuity. Likewise, it is necessary to know that the industry is designed to take maximum advantage of something that works. And in environments where a lot of money moves, the human part is not that important. That’s what I want to deal with, what really matters. Fortunately, we can choose where we will be.
He met with Marta to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his debut album in 2021. How did you live?
Then we wanted to thank everyone for how lucky we were to have made songs that accompanied so many people. It was good to live from today. And it’s a way to be thankful for what happened so quickly at 20 years old. I was able to contribute my experience. Connecting with my startups strengthened my desire to keep sharing.
