The Disney+ streaming service has removed Kyle Patrick Alvarez’s sci-fi movie The Crater from its library 48 days after its online theater release on May 12. writes about it Screen Breaking.

The protagonist of the picture is a boy growing up in a moon mining colony. After his father’s death, he and four of his best friends set out to explore the legendary crater before leaving the moon forever and being transported to another planet.

One of the main roles in the film was played by McKenna Grace, star of the supernatural comedy “Ghostbusters: The Heirs”, “The Haunting of Hill House” and “The Handmaid’s Tale”, and Shawn Levy was among the producers. (“Night at the Museum”, “Stranger Things”, “Hero”). Alvarez previously directed the feature film The Stanford Prison Experiment with Billy Crudup and Ezra Miller, and also worked on 13 Reasons Why and Homecoming.

Exclusive to Disney+ and not showing in theaters, the movie was removed as part of an ongoing cost-cutting campaign in Hollywood. According to media reports, its budget was $53.4 million.
