Canadian actress Samantha Weinstein dies at 28

Canadian actress Samantha Weinstein, who played the role of high school student Heather in the remake of Carrie, has died at the age of 28.

The actor was born on March 20, 1995 in Toronto. Weinstein made her debut as Josephine in Big Girl. The film won the Best Canadian Short Film Award at the 2005 Toronto Film Festival and earned the 10-year-old the Best Actress award.

He also played Brook in the independent drama Kingdom and as Hagar in the Kari Skogland-directed film based on Margaret Lawrence’s Stone Angel. Weinstein has appeared in films such as Being Erica, Copper and Darknet. The actor has worked hard on voice acting, including in the animated series.
Additionally, Weinstein rose to fame as the lead singer, songwriter, and lead guitarist of the Toronto-based garage rock band Killer Virgins.

She is survived by her sister Sabrina, husband Michael Knutson, and parents David and Jojo Weinstein.
