Russian rock musician Alexander Marshal commented on socialbites.ca about the ban on entry to Latvia. He said he “didn’t mind the sanctions” and shared his impressions of a trip to the country a few years ago.
“I visited Latvia several times during the Soviet period, I had many friends there. And a few years ago I had tours there – Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. We traveled there by bus and I will never forget how we drove through Latvian territory: this road and the houses with boarded-up windows along the way. We stopped at a gas station and I asked the gas station attendant what had happened, why the houses were closed. And he says: “People left because it became impossible to live.” So, I have a proposition to these bastards who are currently in power: Shouldn’t you impose sanctions on yourself for making fun of people? I think it will be correct. “We don’t care about these sanctions,” said the Marshal.
Former Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia published The “black list” of 35 Russians banned from entering the country.
Among them were artists Shaman (Yaroslav Dronov), Nadezhda Babkina, Alexander Marshal, TV presenters Valeria Kudryavtseva, Yulia Baranovskaya, actors Polina Agureeva, Stanislav Starovoitov, political scientists Evgeny Satanovsky, Rostislav Ishchenko, journalists Yulia Vityazeva, Mikhail Shakhnazarov and others.
