Legendary rocker David Crosby dies at 81

Crosby was romantically involved with Canadian folk singer Joni Mitchell, who put him in touch with Neil Young and Stephen Stills. His adventure with “The Byrds” culminated when he was kicked out of the band in 1967. He later formed the folk-rock band “Crosby, Stills & Nash”, joined by Crosby, Stills and Graham Nash, and Canadian Neil Young. The band gave their first concert as a trio in 1969 at the Woodstock festival.

Although Young’s involvement meant the group’s commercial success with albums like ‘Deja Vu’ and big hits like ‘Woodstock’ and ‘Teach Your Children’, the group disbanded due to ego differences. Both groups played an important role in the development of folk-rock and country-rock, which originated in California and became popular in the 1970s. Crosby continued as a soloist, and his last album was released in 2021 under the name ‘Free’.

On a personal level, the musician has addiction problems with alcohol and drugs over the years.
