Associate Professor Lyudmila Ivanova-Shvets of the Department of Human Resources Management at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics spoke to the agency about upcoming veteran payments. The message highlights that many beneficiaries can expect a prompt payout, with eligibility confirmation aimed for completion by May 9.

The discussion clarifies that a federal payment of 10,000 rubles is allocated to participants of the Great Patriotic War and other categories of citizens who are deemed equivalent in status. It is noted that these payments have already begun to be credited to recipients.

Ivanova-Shvets reminded listeners that each region of the Russian Federation administers its own support measures for eligible groups, resulting in variations in the payment amounts by region. For instance, home front workers in Moscow are set to receive an additional 15,000 rubles, whereas in the Tyumen region the amount would be 5,000 rubles, as explained by the expert.

The PRUE representative also explained that federal benefits are accessible to veterans living in newly formed districts if they meet the conditions listed in the Veterans law. It was indicated that most veterans have received their payments automatically through the Social Fund; however, some veterans residing in newly created regions may face delays if they are not yet registered in the pension insurance system, which can slow the delivery of funds.

In a broader historical note, it is mentioned that President Vladimir Putin in 2019 established annual payments for veterans in the lead-up to May 9. The President continued to oversee related measures in subsequent years, including a decree in 2022 that provided a one-time payment to veterans associated with the Great Patriotic War in the Donbass region.
