Venezuela has signaled its willingness to back any OPEC actions aimed at addressing the ongoing tensions between Israel and Palestine. This stance was conveyed by the country’s foreign ministry and cited by RIA News in reporting from Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto.
Minister Gil Pinto stressed that Caracas has not yet participated in discussions about an oil embargo on Israel. Nevertheless, he affirmed that Venezuela would support OPEC measures designed to foster dialogue between the competing sides and reduce the risk of further escalation in the region.
In his description of the situation in Palestine, Gil Pinto called the developments a grave crime and a violation of international humanitarian norms. He asserted that Israeli actions amount to genocide against the Palestinian people, underscoring the perceived severity of the crisis and the need for a coordinated international response through mechanisms that OPEC countries sometimes consider when shaping energy policy alongside geopolitical strategy.
Earlier comments from Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, speaking on behalf of OPEC member states, suggested a stance that oil supplies to Israel should be restricted as part of broader pressure over the Palestinian issue.
