The Ust-Luga transport hub in the Leningrad region is back in operation after the fire, which was linked to the attack by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles. According to Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov, all issues connected to the incident have been resolved and the facility has resumed normal activity, as reported by TASS.

Novatek has restarted shipments of petroleum products from Ust-Luga, signaling a full recovery at the terminal. Shulginov noted that the transport hub problem is now solved and emphasized that the company has addressed all factors that previously hindered work, including the reinitiation of cargo movements from the terminal.

Earlier in the year, at the end of January, explosions and a fire affected the Novatek-Ust-Luga terminal in the Leningrad region. Officials explained that the incident was caused by an attack using Ukrainian drone aircraft, a claim framed as terrorism from Kyiv’s perspective by Kremlin representatives.

Following these events, critical infrastructure facilities in the Leningrad region were placed on high alert starting January 21.

Initial plans had anticipated that restoring the enterprise in Ust-Luga could take up to two months. In the meantime, Russia had restricted public gatherings due to drone activity, a precautionary measure tied to the elevated threat level.
