Recent notices show that Unistream has stopped sending funds to Tajikistan in US dollars and euros. The change appears in a post on the social platform VKontakte where the company confirms the halt in these currencies.

Transfers aimed at Tajikistan in the ruble currency remain available. If a transfer was initiated in dollars or euros but not received by the end of September 30, recipients may still request a refund; after that date, refunds are no longer possible.

The National Bank of Tajikistan announced in July that Unistream would cease foreign currency transfers to Tajikistan. It also noted that Unistream Bank faced US sanctions on July 20. Several financial institutions in the post-Soviet region responded by tightening business with the Unistream system.

Unistream has pledged to implement measures to reduce the impact of sanctions and to offer an infrastructure solution that maintains smooth collaboration with partner institutions.

Earlier this week, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation approved a new cross-border transfer system called Kwikpay. It is the third such system endorsed by the regulator in 2023, underscoring ongoing efforts to expand domestic and regional payment options.

Historically, Unistream has been recognized for handling a substantial share of average bank transfers in the region, though current events indicate a shift in the payment landscape and regulatory environment. [Citation: National Bank of Tajikistan statements, July report]
