Ukrenergo, the national energy operator of Ukraine, reported that weather disturbances caused damage to the regional electricity networks in the Chernivtsi area. The update appeared on the company’s Telegram channel, conveying that adverse conditions led to disruptions in distribution infrastructure across the region.
The post emphasizes that electricity generation in the country currently satisfies consumer demand and that the power system retains a reserve. Nevertheless, Ukrenergo cautions that the reliability of power supply has been noticeably reduced because several critical high‑voltage substations sustained damage during the weather event.
Earlier updates indicated that Ukrenergo had lifted all restrictions that previously contributed to power outages, signaling an improvement in the overall situation across Ukraine.
Since October 10, 2022, Ukrainian power facilities have faced attacks from the Russian Armed Forces targeting military and energy infrastructure. The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, characterized these actions as a response to the explosion on the Crimean bridge, a claim widely cited in official statements and reporting.
At present, the Russian Federation maintains a military operation in Ukraine. In a statement released on February 24, 2022, President Putin announced the launch of this campaign, describing its stated aims as the demilitarization of Ukraine and the establishment of a governance framework aligned with Moscow’s priorities.
