Ukraine Moves to Seize Russian Assets and Military Equipment
Ukraine reports that President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed the seizure of 800 movable Russian assets. The government is said to have approved the president’s draft decree outlining these measures.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development, the plan includes the confiscation of about 500 rail cars and other rolling stock, an oil tanker, more than 300 trucks and automobiles, tanker trucks, construction machinery, and aircraft engines. The ministry described the scale and variety of items as part of what is being pursued in line with the decree.
Additionally, Kyiv intends to seize seven MiG-25 supersonic high-altitude military aircraft. The fighter jets are not operational, and Kyiv aims to repurpose them as spare parts for Ukrainian Armed Forces aircraft in service. This move is framed as supporting ongoing defense needs through available resources.
Earlier, Kyiv reportedly intercepted United States–owned Iranian weapons en route to Yemen. The U.S. Central Command stated that Kyiv would obtain these weapons following a court decision transferring possession rights to the American government, allowing for a subsequent distribution process.
President Zelensky has stated that the actions are aimed at preventing the transfer of hostilities to Ukrainian territory, underscoring a strategic approach tied to resource control and national security objectives.
