The Sunlight jewelry chain is transitioning to a modern technology footprint by adopting a local SD-WAN solution to oversee a geographically dispersed corporate network. For this shift, the CloudMTS supplier supplied the hardware, software licenses, crafted an implementation plan, and guided the customer through the migration process.
In Moscow and the surrounding region, partners completed a pilot rollout. Sunlight now intends to upgrade its network backbone across more than 300 retail locations in Russia. The project is projected to reduce annual IT infrastructure development costs by up to half, thanks to the efficiency gains of the new platform.
Sunlight’s IT director, Yury Matusovsky, underscored that the primary objective is to attain maximum fault tolerance for the corporate internet across the entire store network.
“A temporary disruption in communication with any outlet can disrupt sales flow,” he noted. “With Cloud SD-WAN, the company can oversee internet connectivity for all brand stores from one unified interface and intervene rapidly if any node becomes unavailable.”
The provider’s team highlighted that Cloud SD-WAN consolidates thousands of retail outlets spread across cities and regions onto a single, cohesive platform. It offers more reliable and faster connectivity than conventional routers. Importantly, installation at a branch does not require specialized knowledge; an ordinary employee can set it up simply by powering the device and clicking an activation link delivered by email. Remote configuration is performed by the network administrator through a centralized cloud control panel.
Two communication channels are provisioned for each site: a wired WAN and a redundant LTE module. If the primary link fails, traffic is automatically switched to the LTE path. The typical data transfer rate from the point of sale stands at about 10 Mbps, which supports stable operation of all essential software and services with headroom for peak activity.
