The government body overseeing digital development is exploring a pilot that lets Russians verify product labels through the State Services portal. A draft decree related to this initiative has been published on the federal project portal alongside regulatory acts.
To broaden access to the scanning feature for QR and barcode codes, the proposal aims to integrate the Gosuslugi single portal with other relevant information systems. This move would simplify how citizens interact with labeling data and, in the process, make it easier to access essential information about goods and medicines.
Officials emphasize that linking these systems will provide clear and user friendly labeling information, supporting consumers in making informed choices. The measure is described as a stepping stone for expanding the State Services portal into a universal channel for obtaining details about purchased items, including safety and compliance data where applicable.
In late January, results from a December survey conducted by the Roskachestvo Consumer Behavior Research Center in collaboration with Romir Research Holding highlighted a rising level of public trust in goods carrying the Russian Quality Mark. The share of respondents who trusted these labeled products increased from 77 percent to 82 percent over the previous six months, reflecting growing confidence in quality marks as a signal of reliability.
The ongoing discussions underscore a broader effort to modernize public access to product information, aligning with a digital governance strategy that prioritizes transparency and ease of use for everyday consumers. As the State Services portal continues to evolve, officials anticipate it will serve as a central repository for verified product data, enabling smoother verification processes at the point of sale and beyond.
