A Russian business group, Smart Service, has taken control of KFC’s fast food outlets in the domestic market after finalizing an agreement with the Polish investor AmRest. The deal covers 215 eateries and carries a price tag of €100 million, a figure confirmed by the European corporate communications team and subsequently acknowledged by AmRest’s press service.
Smart Service is actively expanding the Rostic brand within Russia, leveraging the acquisition to anchor a broader rollout strategy. A formal press release indicates that the purchase agreement for the AmRest portfolio has received clearance from the relevant Russian regulatory bodies, allowing the transition to proceed under local law and oversight.
The transaction has been completed and duly registered with the applicable authorities in line with prevailing legislation. AmRest’s communications team reiterated that the final consideration of €100 million has been received in full as part of the closure of the deal.
Following the closing, AmRest communicated its strategic decision to withdraw from the Russian market, effectively ceasing its corporate activities there permanently. In Moscow, near the Mayakovskaya metro station, the rebranding of a flagship site under the new system took place on April 25. The plan calls for transferring approximately 100 additional KFC outlets to the Rostic banner by the end of the summer, signaling a accelerated phase of brand consolidation and growth in the region.
