The SJ-100 prototype, imported from Russia, completed its second flight on Saturday, August 2, according to an official statement from United Aircraft Corporation issued via its telegram channel.

In Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the second flight of the SJ-100 wrapped up as part of the factory development test program. UAC noted that this second flight lasted longer than the first, signaling a positive progression in the aircraft’s test schedule.

Today’s mission endured 75 minutes and reached altitudes up to 6,000 meters, marking a meaningful step in the ongoing flight test campaign.

During the prior test segment, the SJ-100 crew successfully retracted the landing gear and verified the operation of the aircraft’s air conditioning system and cabin pressure control, ensuring stable environmental conditions for the crew.

Additionally, the anti-icing system for the engine air intakes was evaluated to confirm reliable performance under expected operating conditions.

The aircraft remained under the command of Captain Leonid Chikunov, with Sergei Zavalkin serving as co-pilot for the ongoing tests.

Earlier, aviation analyst Roman Gusarov highlighted the strategic aim of achieving aviation independence as a priority for Russia, noting that domestic engines will be installed in the second SJ-100 prototype to support that objective.

Previously in official Kremlin remarks, the first flight of the imported SJ-100 prompted interest and discussions about the program’s milestones and national aviation capabilities.
