The Chelyabinsk campus of School 21, Sber’s school of digital technologies, opened its doors offering a pathway to in-demand IT professions at no cost. The launch was announced by the bank’s press service.

The facility supports 210 workstations and represents a joint effort by Sber, the Chelyabinsk regional government, and the South Ural State University, carried out at the direction of the Russian president.

At the ceremony, Sber President German Gref expressed gratitude to the bank teams and to Governor Alexei Teksler for their collaborative work and continued support.

Gref remarked that School 21 attracts individuals who have faith in themselves and are ready to change their life trajectories.

He noted that the more ambitious the task, the more motivating the outcome becomes. His words echoed a philosophy of setting bold aims each year to energize the entire team, because pursuing a significant goal brings a sense of purpose and momentum to improve and reach new milestones.

Gref highlighted that participants in School 21 share a strong spirit with the Sber team and are prepared to contribute to the bank’s mission in the region.

He added that the program will enable students to acquire education and help shape the future of Chelyabinsk, the country, and the organizations they represent today.

Governor Teksler described the opening as a major event for the region, noting the area’s deep industrial roots in metallurgy, mechanical engineering, toolmaking, and nuclear industries. He emphasized Chelyabinsk’s position as a large agro-industrial hub and highlighted how the Southern Urals have long built foundations for progress. The governor pointed out that modern competencies build on this legacy and mark the path forward.

Teksler stressed that progress hinges on modern, innovative, digital, and intelligent solutions that empower education and industry alike.

Alexander Wagner, Rector of the South Ural State University, sees School 21 as creating a unique environment that cultivates future IT leaders. He noted that this development is especially important for the region since major industrial players are increasingly relying on digital technologies, and they will be seeking highly trained personnel to sustain growth.

Wagner added that the campus will be a catalyst for regional leadership in technology and will help align local talent with the evolving needs of industry and business.
