New technologies powering Sber’s cybersecurity system have positioned it among the world’s leading defenses. Over the last two years, the system has reported no malfunctions. This achievement was highlighted by the bank’s board chairman, German Gref, in a documentary focused on Sber’s operations. The subject was showcased at the company’s annual general meeting of shareholders.

According to Sber’s president, the bank has become the most targeted company worldwide in the past two years due to its scale and digital footprint.

“The training behind our defenses is excellent. We frequently stop attempts to steal customer funds not only at Sberbank but across other banks as well. The driving force is the best team in the market, a team capable of delivering large global projects. That same team built our core, productive, broad language model GigaChat, which was launched in 2023,” said German Gref.

He noted that the attacks were extensive, technologically verified, and tied to major events in Russia, underscoring the need for robust security investments.

The documentary also delves into artificial intelligence and the ongoing development of Sber’s large language model GigaChat, highlighting its wide application across sectors.

Gref emphasized that a large enterprise that postpones AI investment today risks losing its market position tomorrow.

He asserted that two forces drive progress: people who create artificial intelligence and people who implement AI produced by others. This dual focus is central to Sberbank’s strategy.

“Productive AI technologies have been identified as the top technology priority. Today these technologies are used to streamline processes, accelerate code generation, enhance customer experience, and reveal that the future belongs to these innovations,” Gref stated.

During the annual general meeting of Sber shareholders, it was announced that dividends for the previous year would total 752 billion rubles, equivalent to 33 rubles per share. The meeting also featured a documentary highlighting the bank’s projects and the Russians involved in them, illustrating the breadth of Sber’s strategic initiatives.

Overall, the presentation underscored Sber’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and scalable technologies as core pillars of its long term strategy. The bank’s leadership pointed to continued investments in AI research, security infrastructure, and large language models as essential components for maintaining competitiveness in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
