Sberbank has led Russia in the development of management processes for self-service devices, and the bank now supports every ATM and every information and payment terminal in its network, including those with self-collection capabilities, according to the bank’s press service.
Transactions at the ATM can be completed through a QR code, SberPay, and Mir Pay, with options that include card use, biometrics, or a smartphone.
By adopting centralized processing, Sberbank aims to accelerate the introduction of new features for customers and streamline service delivery across the platform.
The bank notes that 96 percent of the software used to manage its ATMs is developed in-house.
Sberbank’s Senior Vice President of the Sales Network highlighted that building an in-house ATM processing system marks a tectonic shift in the technology upgrade journey of the ATM network and noted that development has been underway for more than a year.
The executive emphasized that this innovation will bring technological leadership closer and enable faster rollout of useful functionalities for customers, while potentially lowering IT infrastructure costs and maintaining high reliability and security. The bank also plans to offer its transaction services to other financial institutions, expanding opportunities for ATM network growth and collaboration.
