Surveys indicate that many Russians believe a solid monthly salary for a good teacher should be around 95 thousand rubles, according to data cited by RBC and Superjob.
The survey ran from October 1 to October 4 and included 1.6 thousand participants from 379 settlements across the country.
The respondents reported an average expected salary of 95 thousand rubles. In terms of ranges, 28% of those polled felt teachers should earn 50 to 80 thousand rubles per month, 23% viewed 80 to 100 thousand rubles as reasonable, and 17% thought 100 to 150 thousand rubles would be appropriate.
Regional differences were notable with the highest figures in Moscow at around 125 thousand rubles and in St. Petersburg near 100 thousand rubles.
Official data from Rosstat show that the average salary of a school teacher in the first half of the year stood at 63.6 thousand rubles. The top regional salaries were recorded in Chukotka at about 161 thousand rubles, while the lowest were observed in Karachay-Ccherkessia at roughly 21.5 thousand rubles.
The report also noted a shift in how teachers communicate, with more frequent use of social networks and instant messaging platforms in professional life.
There is broad appreciation for teachers among the population, with many remarks of gratitude directed at educators for their work.
