In 2022,Kinopoisk, a Russian online service, reported revenue that more than doubled from the previous year, reaching 15.24 billion rubles, according to Interfax’s summary of the company’s filings.
Sales-related losses for Kinopoisk were substantial, with operating losses totaling 4.04 billion rubles and a net loss of 3.86 billion rubles, while the figure for the previous year stood at 4.45 billion rubles, indicating ongoing profitability challenges in the segment.
Meanwhile, Ivi.ru, another Russian streaming platform, grew its revenue by about 7.7 percent to 12.74 billion rubles by year-end. The service reported sales losses of roughly 331.7 million rubles and a net loss around 693.7 million rubles for the same period, signaling continued financial headwinds in the market.
Amediateka, the Russian online cinema, posted a 39.4 percent increase in revenue for 2022, reaching 4.78 billion rubles. Profit from sales rose 34.5 percent to 1.11 billion rubles, while net profit increased by 37.1 percent to about 970.7 million rubles, reflecting stronger profitability on the core business line.
In mid-April, Kommersant reported a notable rise in viewer interest for Indian cinema across Russian online cinemas and streaming platforms. On average, the viewing volumes for such films grew by about 10–12 percent over the previous year, underscoring a growing appetite for diversified regional content among subscribers.
