The current outlook for agricultural machinery and irrigation equipment shipments from Russia to Egypt is considered a bright area of potential growth in bilateral trade. This assessment was outlined by Alexey Tevanyan, the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Egypt, during remarks reported by RIA News. He emphasized that both sides view this sector as a key entry point for expanding commercial ties between the two nations.

Tevanyan noted that Egypt consistently shows strong demand for Russian agricultural technologies. Beyond equipment for farming, Egypt also imports a range of Russian products including wheat, oil, steel, copper, and timber. Russia remains Egypt’s leading supplier of grain, underscoring the enduring importance of agricultural trade between the two countries.

When identifying promising sectors for Russian suppliers, Tevanyan pointed to agriculture as a priority area. He highlighted the sustained interest in modern agricultural machinery and irrigation solutions, which can help improve yield, efficiency, and resource use on Egyptian farms. The message reflects a broader strategy to align Russian agricultural technology with Egypt’s farming needs and development goals.

Beyond agriculture, Tevanyan described oil and gas technologies as well as information technology solutions from Russia as potentially strong export avenues. These areas are viewed as complementary to agricultural exports, illustrating a diversified approach to expanding Russia’s role in Egypt’s modernizing economy.

Earlier remarks from the trade representative suggested that bilateral trade could grow significantly. Projections indicated that trade turnover between Russia and Egypt might rise by around 25 percent, potentially surpassing the seven-billion-dollar mark. The positive momentum in Russian exports is noted as particularly noteworthy, with Egyptian companies showing openness to settlements in national currencies as a sign of growing financial cooperation and confidence in the bilateral framework.
