The Government of the Russian Federation is moving to strengthen oversight of the industrial design and engineering sector by drafting legislation that would establish a comprehensive register of companies operating in these fields. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin disclosed the initiative, highlighting it as a pivotal step in aligning policy with the country’s industrial ambitions. The information was reported by TASS.
During a visit on July 24 to the Novosibirsk Akademgorodok technopark, Mishustin toured facilities and reviewed the work of several resident projects. Among the showcased endeavors were those from Logix, a company active in industrial design and related engineering initiatives.
Logix’s Technical Director, Andrey Panchenko, briefed the Prime Minister on the organization’s activities, detailing the practical applications of its developments. In response, Mishustin underscored industrial design and engineering as a strategically vital sector for Russia’s economy, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting innovation across the value chain. “We have elevated the prominence of awards in the field of industrial design, and soon we will amend the legislation so that a formal registry of companies engaged in industrial design and engineering exists,” the Prime Minister stated. He added that such a registry would streamline access to a range of government support tools for qualified firms, simplifying processes that connect enterprises to funding, grants, and strategic programs designed to boost productivity and export readiness. The broader policy discourse around industrial design and innovation in Russia has repeatedly pointed toward mechanisms that encourage invention, scale-up, and national capacity-building. President Vladimir Putin has previously signaled the importance of establishing robust channels for introducing breakthrough inventions into the domestic economy, a direction that aligns with creating a transparent registry and strengthening public-private collaboration in design-led engineering.
