The Russian government has given the green light to an intergovernmental agreement with China concerning the delivery of natural gas from Russia to China via the Far East corridor and has ordered that a corresponding bill be presented to the State Duma. This update comes from TASS, citing a decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The accord, signed on January 31, 2023, outlines how gas will be supplied from Russia to China through the Far East route. It covers the cross-border segment of the pipeline running along the Ussuri River near Dalnerechensk and through Russian border towns such as Hulin in China.
Previously, Gazprom announced that once the project reaches full capacity, annual gas deliveries to China will rise by 10 billion cubic meters, bringing total annual volumes to 48 billion cubic meters. This projection reflects expectations of stronger gas flows once the pipeline system is fully developed.
Earlier reports from Bloomberg, citing Kpler analysts, noted additional energy trends: in April of the current year, Russia’s crude oil imports to India were on pace to hit a record high, reaching about 2 million barrels per day.
