The chairman of the Federation Council directed the development of a revival program for Russia’s elevator industry to be ready by May. This was stated during a meeting with Vitaly Mutko, the general director of DOM.RF, according to Interfax.
The plan, he explained, would be showcased at the end of April or in early May as a government road map for the elevator sector. The objective is straightforward: restore all domestic factories to full operation, maximize their loading, and move away from competing games. The facilities should have demonstrated stable performance for at least five years, with a revival program to be approved in May, as Matvienko indicated.
There are currently more than 80 thousand elevators in Russian apartment buildings whose service life has expired, requiring replacement by February 15, 2025.
Earlier, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Construction Alexander Lomakin noted that the road map for switching to direct purchases from manufacturers could be agreed by the end of 2023. At present, purchases proceed through tenders with contractor participation as part of revision programs.
The government, together with the State Duma and the business community, discussed measures to support elevator engineering. The Ministry of Industry and Trade put forward import substitution measures for the industry and a shift toward direct purchases of elevators from factories for replacements in residential buildings.
According to the Ministry of Construction, approximately 15 thousand of the 545 thousand elevators operating in apartment buildings across Russia are replaced each year.
Previously, Doctor Myasnikov warned about the severe consequences of a sedentary lifestyle.
Earlier in Russia, plans were announced for a large-scale program to replace aging elevators.
